Jaipur, April 9 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) on Tuesday suspended its former MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja, a day after he allegedly "purified" a temple at Ramgarh in Alwar with Gangajal after leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, who belongs to the Dalit community, visited it.

Issuing an order, BJP state general secretary Damodar Agrawal said, "You (Ahuja) took an oath while taking the membership of the BJP that you neither believe in discrimination based on caste or religion. Your action has tarnished the party's image and it is considered to be a violation of discipline."htc
