India, Feb. 9 -- With the addition of 500 new electric buses on Sunday, Delhi now has the largest electric bus fleet in the country, chief minister Rekha Gupta said. The buses were flagged off at a ceremony at Ramlila Maidan to mark one year of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the Capital. BJP national president Nitin Nabin was also present at the event.

With the latest addition, Delhi now has a total of 4,286 electric buses. In comparison, Maharashtra has 4,001 e-buses, followed by Karnataka with 1,989, Gujarat with 1,041, Telangana with 875, and Uttar Pradesh with 874, according to data from the Union ministry of road transport and highways.
