BJP expels 2 MLAs for 'anti-party' activities
Bengaluru, May 28 -- The Karnataka unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday expelled two of its legislators from the party for six years for their involvement in "anti-party activities", state party president BY Vijayendra said.
Vijayendra announced the expulsion of MLAs ST Somashekhar and Shivaram Hebbar during a press conference in Bengaluru. He said the state unit had urged the party's high command to take strict disciplinary action.
"The two MLAs were given long rope to rectify themselves but they ignored all the warnings," Vijayendra said.
Somashekhar is an MLA from Yeshwanthpur in Bengaluru, while Hebbar is the MLA from Yellapura in Uttara Kannada district. Both left the Congress and joined the BJP in 2019.
