India, July 19 -- The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has said it has received enough petitions to reach the congressionally mandated 65,000 H-1B visa regular cap and the 20,000 H-1B visa advanced degree exemption, known as the master's cap, for the fiscal year 2026.

An H-1B allows employers to hire foreign workers who have specialised skills and a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Indians have consistently dominated H-1B visa issuances.

According to the USICS, the H-1B classification has an annual numerical limit (cap) of 65,000 for new statuses/visas each fiscal year. An additional 20,000 petitions filed on behalf of beneficiaries who have earned a master's degree or higher from a US institution of higher education are ...
