India, May 25 -- An 84-year-old man who was admitted to a private hospital in Whitefield, Bengaluru, died on May 17 and has tested positive for COVID-19, health officials confirmed on Saturday. The man, who had multiple pre-existing health conditions, had been hospitalized since May 13. His COVID-19 test, conducted while he was alive, returned positive posthumously, sparking fresh concerns amid a recent spike in infections.

Health authorities said Karnataka has reported 38 fresh COVID-19 cases, with 32 of them from Bengaluru alone. Despite the uptick, officials maintain there is no cause for alarm.
