India, March 20 -- Several people, including some policemen, were injured in a clash between supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Dinhata town in West Bengal's Cooch Behar district on Tuesday night, police said.

Udayan Guha, TMC's Dinhata legislator and north Bengal development minister and Cooch Behar Lok Sabha member and Union minister of state for home Nisith Pramanik admitted that they were present during the clash. Both blamed each other for instigating violence.

This is the first clash between supporters of the rival parties in West Bengal since the announcement of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections.
