India, July 16 -- The International Cricket Council (ICC) took strict action against England for maintaining a slower over rate in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against India at Lord's. The Ben Stokes-led side was fined 10 per cent of their match fee and penalised two ICC World Test Championship points. India, on the other hand, got away without any sanction.

England won the tightly fought contest by 22 runs in a dramatic finish on Day 5, but many overs were lost during the five days.

Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after England were ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
