Banke Bihari toshkhan opened for 1st time in 54 years on panel orders
Agra, Oct. 19 -- The "toshkhana" (treasury) of Mathura's Banke Bihari temple was opened for the first time since 1971 on Saturday under the supervision of a Supreme Court-appointed high-powered committee, officials said.
The high-powered management committee was constituted by the Supreme Court in August to address long-standing issues surrounding the temple's administration and management.
During a meeting in September, the committee had agreed to open the sealed room for the first time in 54 years.
