Bank robbers loot Rs.4.5cr jewellery
Samastipur, May 8 -- A group of armed assailants allegedly looted jewellery worth around Rs.4.5 crore and Rs.15 lakh in cash from a state-run bank's branch in Samastipur district of Bihar on Wednesday, officers familiar with the matter said.
The unidentified men, wearing face masks and helmets, stormed into the Kashipur branch of Bank of Maharashtra at 11.30am.
"No shots were fired during the robbery. The arms were used to threaten the staff. After the gang left, the employees, apparently were too shocked to react," police said, adding that an investigation is being conducted to ascertain if the bank's siren was operational.
