India, Feb. 14 -- Bangladesh on Saturday extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the swearing-in of the country's next Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, along with other regional leaders on February 17, people familiar with the matter said.
The invitation from Dhaka was conveyed to the Indian side late on Saturday night, hours after leaders of Rahman's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) indicated that leaders of regional countries would be invited to participate in the inauguration.
