Bangladesh bars 2026 IPL telecast in response to Mustafizur's release by KKR
Kolkata, Jan. 6 -- The Bangladesh government on Monday banned the telecast of the 2026 IPL, two days after the Indian cricket board directed KKR to release the country's fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their squad amid strained bilateral relations. This will be the first time since 2008 that IPL will not be shown in Bangladesh.
The decision came a day after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wrote to ICC asking for its matches in the T20 World Cup to be moved out of India. IPL is scheduled to begin on March 26. Official broadcasters Jio Star did not respond to calls from HT seeking a response.
