Ban on drones till aug 16 over threat to public, infra: police
NEW DELHI, Aug. 3 -- With heightened security measures ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Police has imposed a ban on sub-conventional aerial platforms such as drones, para-gliders, and remotely piloted aircraft in the national capital.
The order, issued by commissioner of Delhi Police SBK Singh, will remain in effect from August 2 to August 16. Citing potential threats from anti-social and terrorist elements to the safety of the general public and vital installations, the order prohibits the use of aerial platforms like para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicle), microlight aircraft, hot air balloons, and quadcopters, which could be misused to disrupt public gatherings or target dignitaries during the nati...
