Chandigarh, April 17 -- The Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday stayed the arrest of Leader of Opposition in the Punjab assembly Partap Singh Bajwa till April 22 in connection with the case registered against him over his "50 bombs have reached the state" remarks.
Justice Deepak Gupta gave the order on a plea moved by the Gurdaspur legislator seeking the quashing of the FIR lodged against him by Mohali police.
The court directed the state to not arrest the Congress leader till April 22, the next date of hearing, Bajwa's counsel and former advocate general of Punjab APS Deol said, adding that the bench sought a response from the state.
