Bengaluru, March 18 -- A Hyderabad court on Monday granted bail to two women journalists in connection with circulating defamatory content against Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy, days after they were arrested on the basis of a complaint by a Congress worker.
The decision came a day after the court struck down the state police's attempt to prosecute the journalists - Revathi Pogadadanda, the managing director of a YouTube news channel, and Thanvi Yadav, an employee - under Section 111 of the BNS, a charge reserved for serious organised crimes with penalties ranging from five years to life imprisonment, and even the death penalty if the crime results in death.
