Dhaka, Aug. 4 -- Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday began the trial of deposed PM Sheikh Hasina in absentia over crimes against humanity related to the violent suppression of the 2024 student-led protests, with interim government-appointed chief prosecutor, Tajul Islam, describing Hasina as the "nucleus of all crimes", calling for the maximum penalty. The first witness in on of the cases, a man shot in the face during the protests, also testified on Sunday. P13
