B'desh plea to shift T20 WC matches dismissed
New Delhi, Jan. 22 -- Bangladesh's participation in the T20 World Cup hung in the balance on Wednesday after the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected its demand to move the team's matches out of India.
The ICC Board met via video conference and voted 14-2 against the plea, with only Pakistan and Bangladesh supporting it. Following the meeting, ICC issued a detailed statement explaining the decision.
"The ICC Board noted that it was not feasible to make changes so close to the tournament and that altering the schedule under the circumstances, in the absence of any credible security threat, could set a precedent that would jeopardise the sanctity of future ICC events and undermine its neutrality as a global governing body," it said.
