New Delhi, Oct. 18 -- The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Tamil Nadu government to wait for the outcome of the presidential reference before pursuing its plea challenging Governor RN Ravi's decision to refer the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to the President instead of granting his assent.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Bhushan R Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran said the matter would be taken up after the constitution bench delivers its judgment on the reference concerning the powers and timelines for governors and the President to act on bills passed by state legislatures.
