India, Feb. 11 -- The Delhi Airport has proposed to impose higher charges on business class and peak-hour flyers which, if approved by the Centre, will be the first time that India will have a variable tariff structure at an airport.
The tariff document filed by the GMR Group-owned airport said an international passenger travelling in business class will have to pay Rs.570 as User Development Fee (UDF) from April 2025, double the amount an economy or premium economy passenger will pay, which is Rs.280, The Economic Times reported.
The document is filed with the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). Notably, operators levy UDF to recover the expenses they incur while upgrading the infrastructures at airports.
