Guwahati, Feb. 17 -- The Assam cabinet on Sunday directed state police to register a case against a Pakistani national who allegedly had links with Congress lawmaker Gaurav Gogoi's wife, Elizabeth Gogoi, a British national, and to find whether that association had any implications on the nation's security and sovereignty.
The move comes days after Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma targeted Gogoi on social media, insinuating that the Congress MP's wife and her work with Pakistani national's organisation had led him to raise questions about India's nuclear programme and defence issues in Parliament.
