Asian shooting championships: Elavenil-Babuta pair claims title
New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- A day after she won the individual gold in 10m air rifle, former world No.1 and two-time Olympian Elavenil Valarivan climbed the podium again, this time after clinching the mixed team title with Arjun Babuta at the Asian Shooting Championships in Shymkent, Kazakhstan on Saturday.
The Indian pair got the better of China's Lu Dingke and Peng Xinlu 17-11. Both Elavenil and Babuta were in fine form, regularly hitting inner-10s to keep the Chinese at bay. They hit only one 9 apiece, a testament to their focus and precision.
The Indians took a 13-9 lead after winning the 11th series but the Chinese pair took a timeout and came back with two excellent shots to make the score 13-11.
