Asian athletics: Mixed relay team wins gold, Tejaswin takes decathlon silver
New Delhi, May 29 -- Asian Games silver medallist Tejaswin Shankar narrowly missed gold in decathlon while India's mixed 4x400m relay team put up a dominating show to defend the title on the second day of the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea.
Tejaswin (7,618 points) gave a tough fight to China's Fei Xiang (7,634). After two gruelling days, the competition came down to the last event - 1500m. Tejaswin's timing (4:37.99) wasn't enough to close down the gap with Fei. Japan's Keisuke Okuda finished third (7602 points). "It was close. In such championship races, you just want to go all out to secure a medal. I am happy," Tejaswin said.
