Darbhanga, April 21 -- A 26-year-old artiste was shot dead on Saturday during celebratory firing at the wedding of a retired army official's son in Jogiyara village, under the jurisdiction of the Jale police station in Bihar, police officers said on Sunday.
At least four artistes from Muzaffarpur were performing at the event while celebratory firing reportedly continued. Despite the chaos caused by the gunfire, the artistes continued to perform, an officer familiar with the matter said.
The victim, identified as Ayesha Khan, sustained a bullet injury to her abdomen, Sadar-2 sub-divisional police officer Jyoti Kumari said. Her body has been sent to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
