Artist apologises for using poet's work without credit in artwork
New Delhi, May 13 -- Artist Anita Dube issued a public apology for her "grave error" in using portions of poet Aamir Aziz's poem, "Sab Yaad Rakha Jayega," in artworks that were shown in a Delhi art gallery in March. Aziz, known for his viral spoken word performances since 2019, had accused Dube, the former curator of the Kochi Biennale and a renowned international artist, for using lines from his poem without his "knowledge, consent, credit, or compensation."
"Multiple attempts to settle this matter financially have unfortunately come to a dead end. In the circumstances wisdom lies in an ethical course correction and hopeful reconciliation," Dube wrote in a public post on social media.
