India, June 2 -- A Mahila court in Chennai on Monday sentenced convict A Gnanasekaran to life imprisonment for at least 30 years and a fine of Rs.90,000 in the Anna University sexual assault case.
On May 28, the Mahila court pronounced biriyani vendor A Gnanasekaran guilty, who was arrested in the sensational Anna University woman student sexual assault case, with the prosecution seeking "maximum punishment" for him.
The court, holding that the prosecution had proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt, found Gnanasekaran guilty of the charges framed against him in the sexual assault case that rocked Tamil Nadu in December 2024.
