Bengaluru, March 22 -- An anganwadi worker in Karnataka's Ramanagara district was suspended for allegedly torturing a two-and-a-half-year-old boy, officials said on Friday.

According to police, the incident took place at the anganwadi centre in the Kanakapura taluk on Tuesday. The accused, identified as BN Chandramma (43) allegedly tortured the child by applying chili powder on his diaper, officers said.

Kanakapura town inspector N Anantharam said, "The child's parents, KR Ramesh and Chaitra Ramesh, noticed bruises on their son when they picked him up from the centre.
