Chandigarh, June 27 -- A Mohali court sent Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia to a seven-day Vigilance Bureau remand on Thursday, a day after he was arrested in an alleged disproportionate assets (DA) case involving Rs.540 crore of laundered "drug money".
Before producing former minister Majithia in court amid tight security arrangements, police detained several Akali supporters who were protesting near the court complex.
Ferry Sofat, the counsel representing the bureau, told reporters that the court has sent Majithia to seven-day vigilance remand, with the next date of hearing on July 2.
