India, Jan. 28 -- Nationalist Congress Party leader and Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar's plane has crashed while landing in Maharashtra's Baramati. His security staff were also aboard the plane with him.
Pawar left from Mumbai early on Wednesday to go to Baramati, his hometown, for addressing four public meetings ahead of the Zilla Parishad polls. His aircraft is said to have crashed before landing.
Details regarding the deputy CM and others onboard the aircraft are awaited.
Baramati airport manager Shivaji Taware told Hindustan Times said that the aircraft VT SSK was attempting landing and the aircraft went on the side of the runway and explored on crashing. He said it was Lear Jet 45 and was chartered from Mumbai.
