India, Dec. 31 -- On June 12, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operating Air India Flight 171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed into the BJ Medical College hostel just 32 seconds after take off, killing 241 of 242 people on board and 19 on the ground. The lone survivor, British-Indian Viswash Kumar Ramesh, escaped through an emergency exit. A preliminary report by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau revealed that the engine fuel control switches had moved from "run to cutoff" three seconds after lift off, cutting thrust. The final report was awaited.
