WASHINGTON, Nov. 28 -- An Afghan national who worked for the CIA in his native country and arrived in the US in 2021 drove across the country from Washington state to shoot two West Virginia National Guard members just blocks from the White House, US officials said on Thursday. The suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, launched an "ambush-style" attack with a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver. Both guards are critical. Officials declined to provide a motive for Wednesday's violence.
