Aerial efforts today as wildfire rages on
KOHIMA, Dec. 14 -- The wildfire that broke out towards the west of Nagaland's scenic Dzukou valley on Friday is continuing to rage on, devastating a massive portion of the biodiversity in the valley, but with no possibility of human intervention from the ground due to the terrain and thick foliage, officials said on Saturday.
"Human intervention it appears is near impossible due to unfriendly, isolated terrain and risky situation for the volunteers. But our volunteers will continue their efforts even tomorrow," Deputy Commissioner Kohima B Henok Buchem told HT. He said aerial counterfire measure (Bambi bucket by chopper) has been requisitioned which would be carried out from Sunday.
