acid attack on kolkata health worker during malaria drive
Kolkata, Aug. 27 -- A man was arrested in West Bengal's Howrah district for allegedly throwing acid on a health worker when she went to his house to check for stagnant water and mosquito larvae as part of an anti-malaria drive in the area. The accused, identified as Biplab Manna, has been arrested.
"We have arrested the man on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman," said a Howrah police officer.
The incident took place on Tuesday when two health workers visited the neighbourhood at Sankrail in Howrah.
"We found some mosquito larva in the house and alerted the owner. An altercation broke out and he attacked a worker with acid," said Sudha Ghosh, a health worker.
