India, Nov. 14 -- After evading arrest for more than two decades, Kashmir Singh (55), a former Punjab Police constable accused in a 1991 fake encounter case, has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from his sister's house in Moga district. He was sent to judicial custody by a Mohali court on Thursday.
According to CBI officials, Singh, who had been declared a proclaimed offender (PO) in 2005, was tracked down after he recently purchased a mobile SIM card in his name. As he was already under electronic surveillance and the agency traced and arrested him from a village in Moga.
