Chandigarh, March 28 -- Aam Aadmi Party's Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Thursday raised the issue of the lack of astroturf at Sansarpur village in the Parliament.
During zero hour, Meet Hayer stated that Sansarpur, considered hockey's Mecca, had given 14 Olympians to the country and didn't have an astroturf.
The MP said that the Olympians from the village have clinched seven medals in the Olympics, including four gold, one silver and two bronze medals. He said that hockey legend Ajit Pal Singh, who won the 1975 World Cup, also hailed from Sansarpur.
Seeking special attention of the Union home and sports ministries, the Sangrur MP said that given the contribution of Sansarpur to the country's hockey, an astroturf should be laid...
