New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- Congress leader Ajay Maken on Tuesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of halting funds for the Delhi Ladli scheme, launched in 2008 by former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit to combat female foeticide, citing a "leaked" CAG report. The AAP denied the allegations, calling them "manufactured lies" and based on "forged documents." HT could not verify authenticity of the documents.
Maken claimed Rs.618 crore was delayed for 320,000 beneficiaries, adding, "The Kejriwal government has robbed women of their rights and deliberately scuttled a globally recognised scheme." The scheme provides financial assistance to girls born since 2008 for their education.
