New Delhi, July 23 -- Leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Ankush Narang, alleged on Tuesday that the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) reduced the number of members in the body's scheduled caste (SC) committee in order to ensure that a BJP member gets the post of chairperson. Earlier, the number of members in the SC committee was 35. It was reduced to 21. "If the committee had stayed 35-member strong, the chairperson would've been from the AAP, so the BJP changed the rules," said Narang.
Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh denied these allegations, called the AAp an anti-Dalit party, and added that the proposals about members of committees were passed in accordance with established rules. htc
