New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- The Delhi government on Wednesday told the high court it has suspended nine Tihar jail officials for their alleged role in an extortion racket run from inside the prison in collusion with inmates, and initiated disciplinary proceedings against them. The response came following the court's criticism over the government's failure to comply with its May 2 order. That order had directed the government to identify officials involved and submit an action-taken report. Lao on Wednesday requested more time to complete the probe. The bench agreed, granting time until October 28 to submit the report.P9
