New Delhi, Feb. 28 -- Veteran politician and Bharatiya Janata Party legislator from Mustafabad, Mohan Singh Bisht, was elected as the deputy speaker of the Delhi assembly on Thursday.
Chief minister Rekha Gupta announced that Bisht's name was approved by a majority vote. "I heartily congratulate Mohan Singh Bisht ji for this new responsibility. Also, I thank all the respected members of the House and Manjinder Singh Sirsa ji who seconded my proposal," she wrote on X. Prior to this year, Bisht won the Delhi assembly elections in 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2020 from Karawal Nagar. In the recently concluded polls, he beat the AAP's Adeel Ahmad Khan.
