5 ASSAM RIFLES personnel hurt after ambush on myanmar border
New Delhi, Nov. 29 -- Five Assam Rifles personnel were injured after militants ambushed them along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur's Tengnoupal district on Friday.
People aware of the matter said the militants, who may have crossed from Myanmar side, used heavy gunfire and bombs at a security post of Assam Rifles near border pillar number 87 at 4.30pm. Taking advantage of the porous border, the jungle in Myanmar side, is used by different militant outfits as their base.
"The firing was immediately retaliated with control and caution, keeping civilian safety. It went on for over half an hour. The operations are currently underway, with additional troops being deployed into the area to flush out the militants," an official aware of the mat...
