New Delhi, March 25 -- Despite constituting only 1.1% of students, medical colleges accounted for 38.6% of ragging complaints and 45.1% of ragging-related deaths in India between 2022-2024, according to a study by a non-government organisation (NGO).

The Society Against Violence in Education (SAVE), in its report released on Monday, said that 3,156 complaints from 1,946 colleges were registered using the University Grants Commission (UGC)-run national anti-ragging helpline from 2022 to 2024. Of these, 1,219 complaints were about incidents of ragging at 710 medical colleges.
