New Delhi, Oct. 23 -- A 45-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar. Police said the accused and the survivor are neighbours.
According to police, the 11-year-old was playing outside her house when the accused lured her to his room and raped her, despite her trying to resist his assault.
The girl's mother found out about the incident when the 11-year-old returned and reported the matter to police.
A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, and the accused was arrested the same day, police said, adding that he is a labourer.
The girl's medical examination was conducted and she was counselled, police said.
