Hyderabad, Nov. 19 -- The Andhra Police on Tuesday arrested at least 45 Maoists during several raids at various hideouts across the state, a police said. The raids were conducted in Vijayawada, parts of NTR district, Krishna district and Kakinada district, they added. State intelligence chief and additional director general of police Mahesh Chandra Laddha said: "Of these, nine were security guards of Maoist party central committee member and newly appointed state general secretary Thippiri Tirupati alias Devji, while the remaining belonged to battalions of the South Bastar Zonal Committee.
