India, Feb. 25 -- At least six members of a family, including five children, died and one woman was injured after a fire broke out following a suspected short circuit in a three-storey residential building in the Lisari Gate area of Uttar Pradesh's Meerut on Monday, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident took place at around 9pm in Lane No. 1 of Kidwai Nagar when flames erupted on the ground floor of the house. At the time, 12 women and children were inside, while the male members of the family had gone for evening prayers.
