New Delhi, July 31 -- Thirty five senior IPS officers from across the country have been empaneled to hold director general(DG) rank posts in the Centre, according to an order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet(ACC). The development is significant against the backdrop of many top level posts expected to be vacant in the coming days starting with the post of the Delhi police commissioner. The union home ministry is yet to confirm if the current police chief Sanjay Arora will be given an extension beyond Thursday when he is set to retire.
