33-year-old IMA cadet drowns in swimming pool
Dehradun, Sept. 12 -- A 33-year-old cadet at the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun died after allegedly drowning in a swimming pool, people aware of the matter said on Thursday, adding that a probe has been ordered.
The cadet, S Balu, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, had joined the IMA through the Special Commissioned Officers (SCO) entry scheme. Police on Thursday conducted the panchayatnama (inquest) proceedings and post-mortem examination. His body was later handed over to his family. According to the police, they have not received any complaint from the family so far, and will take action in the matter accordingly.
