328 firearms, 10,600 rounds of ammo seized in Manipur
Imphal, June 15 -- In counter-insurgency operations in the outskirts of five valley districts of Manipur, joint teams of Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Army, and Assam Rifles, seized 328 firearms and over 10,600 rounds of ammunition on the intervening night Friday and Saturday, officials aware of the matter said, adding that this is the largest single recovery of weapons since the outbreak of violence in the state in May 2023.
According to Manipur Police, the operations were carried out based on intelligence inputs suggesting presence of hidden weapons in valley districts including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Kakching.
