3 RPF personnel booked over Dalit man's custodial death
Gonda, Nov. 7 -- Two railway protection force (RPF) sub-inspectors and a constable were booked over a 36-year-old Dalit man's death, who allegedly died in RPF custody in Gonda district late on Tuesday night, officials familiar with the matter said on Thursday, adding that all three personnel were suspended.
According to RPF officials, the man was arrested for stealing mustard oil from a goods train at Baruwachak railway station on September 28. The victim's family alleged that he was beaten during interrogation. The deceased, Sanjay Sonkar, was a resident of Kinki village in Gonda.
