Ahmedabad, June 19 -- At least 27 people have died in rain related incidents in the last 48 hours in Gujarat, officials said on Wednesday. According to a release issued by the relief commissioner's office, seven people died and two others were rescued after a van carrying nine members of a family was swept away by floodwaters in Botad district on Monday night. The vehicle was crossing a swollen river between Lathidad and Sagavadar villages when it was swept away by the strong current. "A total of 27 people died due to rain related incidents from across the state in the last 48 hours," Alok Kumar Pandey, state emergency commissioner said.
