20 injured in gas cylinder blast in assam: officials
Silchar, Nov. 28 -- Over 20 people sustained injuries, 18 of them critically, after a leaking LPG cylinder exploded in Assam's Sribhumi district on Wednesday night, police said. The incident occurred in the Charbazar area.
Locals said they first noticed gas leaking from a domestic cylinder inside a house. Residents who were attempting to drag the burning cylinder out were engulfed in flames and sustained severe burn injuries."The moment the gas touched a spark, it burst like a fireball. People standing nearby were engulfed within seconds," said a resident.
"The fire was brought under control before it could trigger a bigger disaster," a fire service official said.
