2 suspected members of IS sleeper cell held
Mumbai, May 18 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested two members of the banned terrorist outfit Islamic State (IS) in connection with a 2023 case involving the fabrication and testing of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Pune, the agency said in a statement.
The accused, identified as Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh alias Diaperwala and Talha Khan, were intercepted by immigration authorities at the Mumbai airport early on Saturday. They were returning from Jakarta, Indonesia, where they had been evading arrest. The agency then took the accused into custody and arrested them, the agency said in the statement.
