Mumbai, June 24 -- Opening a new chapter of cooperation between Parliament and state assemblies, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has planned a series of meetings on House committees. The first one - to mark the 75 years of the Estimates Committee - started in Mumbai on Monday. The estimates panel of Parliament, first formed in 1950, deals with efficiency and economy in administration. Currently, Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Sanjay Jayaswal heads the estimates panel of Parliament. Birla told HT that more such meetings are being planned.
